Head of Legal and ESG

One of the dairy FMCG companies in Indonesia is currently recrutiing for a Head of Legal and ESG job based in Jakarta.

About the Head of Legal and ESG Role:
This role offers the chance to manage all legal activities pertaining to the corporation, contracts management, and present legal documents and agreements to stakeholders. You will become the face of the company to the government, third parties and relevant institutions. Reporting directly to the General Counsel and CEO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future direction of our clients business.

As Head of Legal and ESG, you will be at the forefront of managing all legal activities related to the corporation. Your role will involve providing local legal support to operations in Indonesia while ensuring compliance with corporate secretarial works. You will be expected to draft, review, and negotiate key legal contracts while also reviewing marketing initiatives. Your role will also involve providing litigation assessment counselling and risk mitigation advice. You will participate in cross-functional projects on innovation while ensuring compliance with company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage all legal activities pertaining to the corporation
• Provide proactive and creative strategic and tactical legal counselling
• Represent company interests in dealing with local governmental authorities
• Ensure compliance of corporate secretarial works, including main investment licenses
• Provide local legal support to the concentrate plant in Indonesia
• Proactively provide legal opinion as needed, conduct legal research and work with outside counsel for advice on complex matters
• Draft, review, and negotiate key legal contracts to achieve business objectives
• Review and approve all marketing initiatives including labels, claims, packaging, advertising, campaigns and promotional mechanics
• Provide litigation assessment counselling and risk mitigation advice
• Participate in cross-functional projects on innovation, new product launches and development
• Ensure compliance with company policy and provide training in areas of corporate governance
• Develop efficiency opportunities within the legal function to enhance agility and effectiveness
• Collaborate with regional legal team on global initiatives

To succeed in this Head of Legal and ESG role, you must be a qualified lawyer in Indonesia with significant experience working in an international law firm or FMCG company.

Key Requirements:

• Qualified lawyer in Indonesia with overall 9 - 13 years experience working in an international law firm or FMCG company
• Experience working in Dairy/Agriculture/livestock industry is preferred
• Strong business and commercial acumen
• Solid negotiations skills
• Ability to successfully work in cross-functional teams
• Highly persuasive and influential communication skills
• Ability to deal with multiple priorities at both strategic and operational level
• Hardworking, driven, motivated with ability to take initiative
• Results-driven, disciplined with excellent multitasking abilities
