About the Airfreight Manager Role:
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the efficient and effective movement of goods via airfreight. This role involves coordinating and optimising airfreight operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering strong relationships with clients, airlines, and other stakeholders. The Airfreight Manager plays a crucial role in the overall logistics and supply chain management of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement strategic plans for airfreight operations to meet organisational goals
• Analyse market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify opportunities for growth and improvement
• Supervise and lead a team of airfreight professionals, including coordinators, customs specialists, and other supporting staff
• Coordinate and optimise airfreight activities, including booking, scheduling, and tracking shipments to ensure timely and efficient delivery
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their logistics needs and providing customised solutions
• Address client inquiries, concerns, and issues promptly and effectively
• Monitor and manage the budget for airfreight operations, seeking cost-effective solutions without compromising service quality
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and negotiate contracts with airlines and service providers
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of airfreight operations
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives based on performance metrics
• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, providing leadership and professional development opportunities for the airfreight team
• Conduct regular training sessions to keep the team updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices

To succeed as an Airfreight Manager, you will need to have the ability to work effectively and co-operatively with all related teams, across borders and internal matrix.

Key Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in logistics, supply chain management, business, or a related field
• Proven experience in airfreight operations, with a track record of four to eight years of successful experience in a leadership role
• Strong knowledge of international trade, customs regulations, and airfreight processes
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Proficiency in using relevant software and technology for logistics and supply chain management
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Familiarity with industry-specific certifications and accreditations
